Reviews for Voices of the Heart
“As I sat down and read Linda’s book, I was flabbergasted on how much our lives paralleled each other. From our childhoods years, to life after graduation (her bonds with religion, mine with my first husband), to our soul-searching years, career choices, health issues, and then finding the loves of our life. Linda was on a wild rollercoaster ride and I was sitting on the front seat right beside her. I laughed, I cried, and I understood her message. I hope others, can search deep inside their souls and find their “Voices of the Heart”.”
“…I wanted to get back to you after reading your wonderful book. I finished reading it over 1 1/2 years ago, and decided to digest it for a while before writing you.
Now from the misty past my impression is that you have made a great contribution by courageously revealing your life from the inside, and how God guided you to where He wanted you to be and to do. This gives the reader the privilege of witnessing the interior journey to God and to Wholeness. It reminds me of Etty Hillisum’s life revealed in her diaries, published as “An Interrupted Life”, which became very famous for this same reason.
I get this privilege in spiritual direction and the workshops I do which are really group spiritual direction. But few get to see another human life from the inside, and how God is working with the person.”

“After reading “Voices of the Heart”, it is with admiration and respect that I congratulate Linda Pestana, she is a much needed role model in our world today. It is evident through Linda’s writing that she not only practiced what she believed… but lived her own truth. Powerful story, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone.”

“I read your book “Voices of the Heart” and it was so moving. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to read about your life and how your faith has carried you through it. I struggle with my faith and you offer so many examples of how when we question our faith, it becomes stronger, not weaker. Thank you for your gift of insight. Yours is a book I know I will return to again and again.”
Judi M., Medford, MA
“I stayed up and finished “Voices of the Heart” last night. It took a great deal of courage to bare your soul to the general public: a difficult yet obviously healing ordeal. You are absolutely correct when you stress the fact that ‘life is a journey and not a destination’. Ultimately the‘choice’ is up to the individual. There is no quick remedy pill, as we hear promised on the media everyday…no fast— or even sure ‘fix’. A dose of faith, strong beliefs and taking one day, one step at a time is about all we can ask ourselves.
Linda, I thoroughly enjoyed “Voices of the Heart”.”

“I want you to know that I really loved your book “Voices of the Heart”. It was raw and so personal. I honestly got teary-eyed at least ten times. It was wonderful! I am so happy that you are putting it out there for the whole world to experience.
If nothing else, it will help people to see that you can conquer anything even though, “in the moment,” it may seem like things are impossible.
I also love the parts where you point out that sometimes, all we ever want is someone to really listen to us. That is so profound and so true. You are a wonderful person and I am sure your ‘message’ will help so many.”
Sally C., Tiverton, RI
“Thank you so much for having written this book. At times, I laughed—but more often, what you wrote brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for you that things in your life were ‘arranged’ by God such that with your cooperation, they worked out as they did.
I also got to understand the importance to enter the deep recesses of the ‘basement’ one’s heart and look for what ‘in your case’ was a beat-up chest filled with fear. I admire you deeply for having found the courage to honestly face what was there.
There is nothing like your book that brought home to me with such force the unique and irreplaceable nature of each and every individual human being; the impossibility of exchanging one human person for another.
Thank you very, very much for everything!”
